South Milwaukee violates waste rules, DNR says

City doesn't adequately monitor industrial waste it accepts, agency says

South Milwaukee has once again violated its state environmental permit by negligent operation of its imported waste program, according to the state Department of Natural Resources.

The DNR violation notice charges that the city failed to adequately test hauled wastes dumped at South Milwaukee, failed to take its own enforcement action against local firms, did not obtain required information about hauled waste loads, and failed to report potential DNR permit violations.
