El Rey buys ex-Kohl's store

Waukesha site may house Latino grocery or be leased to another business

Waukesha -- The former Kohl's Food Emporium in downtown Waukesha has been purchased by a Milwaukee-based grocery business that specializes in Mexican foods and has its own tortilla factory.

El Rey Enterprises paid $700,000 for the former Kohl's store at 139 E. Broadway, according to city records. Closed more than a year, the store has an assessed value of $1.1 million.
