For JohnScott Rattan, the comforts of playing on his home course
were not as apparent in yesterday's round of the 66th Frank Emmet
Schoolboy as they were on Tuesday, when he shot a first-round 71.
But playing the course 300 times a year -- as he does --
definitely has its advantages. The 3-over-par 75 from the senior
All- Met from Watkins Mill was the second-lowest round of the day.
He extended his first-place lead to five shots over Georgetown Prep's
James Farrah in the prestigious junior tournament at Montgomery
Country Club in Laytonsville.
Ed Bowie from St. Mary's Ryken shot the low round of the day, a
74, to move from a tie for 15th to fourth place, eight shots off the
