Consider the meaning a message conveys to audience

In order to be a good speaker, you have to first think like your audience.

Every time you talk to a business-related audience, no matter how large or small, you are trying to accomplish one of two missions. Either you are providing them with information or you are trying to convince them to do something.

In either case, here is what you have to do. Because of your interest, research and experience with the topic, you have acquired 5 miles of information you can present. The audience doesn't want all of that. That's your job. They want only about 5 1/2 inches of information.
