They were two smart and motivated working-class women whose
liberation from society's constraints in the first half of the 20th
century made them stars. They were known for their personal kindness
and business acumen. They were red hot mamas and feminists.
History has caricatured Mae West and Sophie Tucker into something
approximating jokes, but they were show business forces in their
prime -- the early part of the century for Tucker, slightly later for
West. Now Milwaukee theater audiences have the opportunity to see
each woman, minus at ...
