World missing first-rate 'Gal'

It's unfortunate that mediocre films like "XXX" receive a wide release, while small, personal and worthwhile films can't even find a distributor, much less an audience.

"The Sleepy Time Gal" is an example of the latter. Boasting an impressive cast, the film, showing this weekend at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Union Theatre, was warmly embraced at the 2001 Sundance International Film Festival but has been floundering ever since.
