Going through his credit card bill a few weeks ago, David Glaz was startled to find charges for a few items he had not purchased.

So Glaz, a 42-year-old account manager for a computer firm who lives in Oak Creek, called the company that issued the card, First Consumers National Bank, or FCNB, in Portland, Ore., to complain.

Eventually, the charges were removed.
