Company competes by making cheese easy to eat

When Sargento Foods Inc. introduced packaged cheese slices in
1965, they were marketed as a way to make life more convenient for
consumers who wanted cheese to toss on their sandwiches without
having to take out the knife and slice them.
Since then, family-owned Sargento has built its annual sales to
more than $550 million by packaging cheese that already has been
sliced, shredded, cubed or otherwise made quick and easy to use.
Sargento is now launching its own version of that old standby,
bars of cheese. ...
