Their views and styles contrast, but both candidates strike us as
able in the general election for the Wisconsin Supreme Court on April
1. We favor Madison Appeals Court Judge Pat Roggensack over Barron
County Circuit Judge Ed Brunner. Roggensack's appellate background
helps to make her our choice for the seat now held by Justice William
Bablitch, who is not seeking re-election.
Incredibly, never in the 25-year history of the state Appeals
Court has a judge from that level become a state Supreme Court
