In the ongoing struggle over digital downloading, technology will
let those trading files triumph over efforts to shut down online
media piracy, experts say.
The technology allowing the unfettered sharing of files is called
"peer-to-peer" networking. It allows each connected computer to act
as a server and facilitate communication between other machines.
The decentralized nature of the network means the system is
resilient, and it stays up as long as any of its members are active.
Usually in peer-to-peer networking, there is no one plug that can be
