Botanical Name: Coprosma 'Rainbow Surprise
Description: For a focal point in the garden, and a real
conversation piece, plant coprosma in a pot and set it in an empty
spot. Coprosmas tended to be larger-growing, ungainly creatures. Now
new dwarf varieties that originated in breeding and hybridizing
programs in New Zealand are much more garden friendly. They sport a
multitude of colors in their variegated leaves that are so shiny they
look as though they've been wiped with a polish.
Challenges: Coprosmas enjoy afternoon shade. They make good
centerpieces in containers because the roots can be kept moist but ...
