Johnson Controls chooses chairman

Barth elected to top spot at state's largest company

John M. Barth will become chairman of Johnson Controls Inc., Wisconsin's largest company, on Jan. 1. He will be succeeding James Keyes.

Barth, 57, was elected chairman on Wednesday, during a meeting of the Johnson Controls board. Keyes, who stepped down as chief executive officer last year, will retire as chairman Dec. 31.

Keyes, 62, joined Johnson Controls in 1966, and spent 14 years as CEO. He has been chairman since 1993.
