We're scared.

We're afraid of pollution in our air, chemicals in our water, germs in our food, new viruses and diseases, and dangers that might be lurking in power lines, cell phones and other trappings of modern life.

We don't want to get sick or die. We really, really don't want to get cancer.

And all these fears shape the decisions we make about our health.
