San Diego -- Two Monday night games a week?
No thanks.
NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue is apparently flirting with the
idea to schedule two games each Monday night, with ABC's Monday Night
Football televising what turns out to be the more attractive of the
two matchups, while the other game would be shown in the markets of
the two competing teams.
Why would the NFL schedule two Monday night games? Simple. ABC
wants more assurance that it will be able to show an important game
in the network's national showcase on Monday nights.
With parity causing wild fluctuations from year to year in the
past few seasons, ABC has ended up with some less than attractive
matchups in the past few seasons.
