New Year's Eve is a time of tradition, especially on television, where Dec. 31 is when TV networks put together sometimes oddly fitting programming in an attempt to lure in folks ringing in the new year at home.

There's the usual Times Square events, such as "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" on ABC, starting at 9 p.m. Central Time, and then, after a break for the news at 10 p.m., continuing at 10:35
