Waukesha -- County Executive Dan Finley is declaring the possible sale of Wanaki Golf Course dead.

Finley said Wednesday that he sees no chance of salvaging his proposal to create a special committee that would appraise the value of the Menomonee Falls golf course with an eye toward selling it.

Despite growing opposition, the county executive said the sale would have streamlined county government by reducing its involvement in a recreational activity better left to private business.
