Smith's music lifted up to heavens

They don't make mantels big enough to hold all of Michael W. Smith's Dove Awards.

The Doves are the biggest prizes in gospel music, and this spring, Smith took home six more of them, including best artist and male vocalist. The artist of the year win was Smith's second in a row, and the new crop of prizes pushes his Dove Award total to 40.

For a guy who just turned 46 and has been in the business 20 years, Smith has been putting up new-sensation kinds of numbers.
