Sewerage district raises fees to pay for upgrades

Village of Waterford moves to increase residents' rates 10%

The Western Racine County Sewerage District has already begun implementing a 30% increase in the rate it charges the villages and towns of Waterford and Rochester in order to pay for $8.5 million in upgrades to its treatment plant and pumping stations, said Lynn Tamblyn, one of the district's commissioners.

So far, three of the four municipalities have been able to absorb the extra cost for the upgrades, which are scheduled to start next year, without charging users more money.
