Starting salaries for information technology professionals will
rise an average of 6.8 percent in 2000, according to a survey by RHI
Consulting.
Professionals in Internet-related positions are projected to see
an average starting salary increase of 7.2 percent, with e-commerce
specialists more in the range of 14.8 percent.
The largest increases will come in consulting and systems-
integration positions, with average starting salaries rising by more
than 17 percent in some specialties.
Entry-level salaries also are expected to rise, especially for
those who have gained practical knowledge through internships or
summer positions, according to the research, which RHI said was based
