What does China's transformation mean for us?

It's clear that it's time for America to wake up
Kudos for the eye-opening series on the dramatic transformation of
China into a manufacturing giant ("Made in China: The new industrial
revolution," Dec. 28-31).
Even more surprising was the fact that China is producing more
technically trained college graduates than the United States, largely
because Chinese educators work closely with the real world --
businesses. American college professors, on the other hand, spend
most of their time avoiding teaching duties while fomenting anti-
business and anti-establishment attitudes among students.
