Flood of recipes takes the yellow cake

More than 50 readers sent recipes for Kristi Last, Waukesha, who wanted a recipe in which batter for a homemade yellow cake was made, then topped with pie filling.

Alice A. Maki, Pewaukee, sent a recipe made in a jellyroll pan, then topped with powdered sugar. She wrote: "I found the recipe in my handwritten cookbook that I had compiled in the 1970s. I believe (the) recipe came from a colleague nurse at Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls. We enjoyed the yummy cake during break time."
