Fruity festival fills Cedarburg to overflowing

Cedarburg -- Fair skies and a sweet red sea of strawberry creations made the 19th annual Strawberry Festival the perfect draw last weekend for large, hungry crowds.

Strawberries inspired smoothies, shortcakes, sundaes, slushes, schaum tortes, crepes, pancakes, wine and even bratwurst.

The annual street festival shines a spotlight on a berry whose season is short but sweet. It attracts a devoted following in the shadow of Milwaukee's Summerfest some 20 miles to the south.
