PSC needs to insist on energy efficiency efforts by WPS

During the past several weeks, written reports and testimony have been filed before the state Public Service Commission as it considers the application of Wisconsin Public Service Corp. to construct a 500- megawatt generating unit at its Marathon generating station.

First, let me say that the potential for energy efficiency within the WPS territory has been seriously underestimated. According to WPS, only 10 to 32 megawatts of energy efficiency opportunity is available within its service territory.
