Growing up on a farm near Evansville, Wis., Will Fellows always
loved old things: family Bibles, early photographs, his grandmother's
clapboard house with its antique glass and brass candlesticks. He's
convinced that legions of other gay men are similarly inclined -- an
interest that sparked his new book, "A Passion to Preserve: Gay Men
as Keepers of Culture" (University of Wisconsin Press; $30). The book
examines the personal histories of dozens of gay men around the
country -- including several in Wisconsin -- who have rescued
dilapidated buildings, brought neglected neighborhoods back to life
and saved ...
