Packers fan's firm designed the stadium they play in

A Packers fan for decades, John Somerville had season tickets to Lambeau Field and always admired the layout of the playing field that's now considered hallowed ground among the Packers faithful.

Somerville had reason to admire Lambeau -- his architecture firm designed it.

Somerville, 93, of Allouez, died Saturday of kidney failure at Bellin Hospital, which he also helped design.

The low bidder to design a new stadium to keep the Packers from leaving Green Bay in the 1950s, Somerville traveled to the University of Michigan, Notre Dame and other football stadiums to come up with ideas for Green Bay.
