Forget taxes, the deficit and terrorism; in Wisconsin, President Bush and Sen. John Kerry are scoring points by arguing over cows.

While it's common for presidential candidates to talk about agricultural issues as they stump through the heartland, Kerry and Bush have sharply criticized each other over dairy policy -- something near and dear to thousands of Wisconsin dairy farmers.

Both candidates are savvy enough to know that talking about dairy farming in the state that leads the nation in dairy herds -- with about 16,800 -- could help win votes in this battleground.
