State fire marshal, police investigating cause of early morning blaze

Thiensville -- A bowling alley was gutted in a fire that broke out early Thursday.

Police Chief Richard Preston said a passer-by called police at 2:27 a.m. and reported smoke and flames were coming from Regatta 2 Family Fun Center, 610 N. Main St.

When a police officer arrived at 2:30 a.m., flames were shooting out the windows of the building, Preston said.

Firefighters from Thiensville, Cedarburg, Grafton and Mequon were called to fight the fire and had it under control in 45 minutes. The fire was extinguished around 6 a.m., Preston said.
