Proposal to spend $184,090 to shorten wait for human services is rejected

Racine -- Emotional pleas from parents of children with developmental disabilities who are on a waiting list for work- related services were answered with a long debate by the Racine County Board Tuesday about providing help, but no money.

The board adopted its 2005 budget, making various changes that had no impact on the bottom line from the budget first presented by County Executive William McReynolds.

The general tax levy will be $41.5 million, up from $40.42 million, and the tax rate will be $3.55 per $1,000 of equalized property value, down from $3.80.
