Firm experienced in resurrecting struggling venues

Racine -- An Iowa-based company that specializes in managing convention and performing arts venues in midsized cities has been selected to take over management of Racine's struggling Civic Centre.

Under a flexible, five-year contract, the city will pay Compass Facility Management a flat annual fee of $600,000 to manage the facility, Donnie Snow, the city's director of parks, recreation and cultural services, said Monday.

The company also will be paid 40% of the first $150,000 in savings it can deliver, and then 50% of any additional savings each year. Either party can pull out of the contract at any ...
