Columbia St. Mary's buys Glendale facility

The Heart Hospital of Milwaukee, a 32-bed for-profit specialty facility that failed to crack the saturated heart care market here, has been sold to Columbia St. Mary's Inc. for $42.5 million.

The year-old heart hospital, 375 W. River Woods Parkway in Glendale, was owned by Charlotte, N.C.,-based MedCath Corp. and 18 area physicians.

The hospital has 125 staff members, some of whom will join Columbia St. Mary's after the facility closes Nov. 23. Columbia St. Mary's will begin interviewing heart hospital employees soon.
