Berg says he's sorry for bashing home schooling

Brookfield -- The alderman who was hit with an ethics complaint after authoring changes to make the city's ethics code more restrictive has apologized for critical comments on his Web site about a resident's home-schooled child.

In a Sunday night e-mail to Kyle Prast, the mayor, the Common Council, the city attorney and the city clerk, Ald. Scott Berg said he was sorry he implied that home-schooling children "is somehow improper." Prast, who home schools her 15-year-old son, had been the subject of criticism on Berg's site for her role in opposing the proposed sale of Swanson Elementary School.
