Whistling Straits on course to host PGA Championship
2004 tournament's success makes site appealing replacement for
venue that was up against 2010 Olympics
With the United States Golf Association set to discuss Whistling
Straits as a potential venue for the 2012 U.S. Open, the PGA of
America appears poised to beat the USGA to the punch.
Whistling Straits is the front-runner to replace Sahalee Country
Club near Redmond, Wash., as the site of the 2010 PGA Championship,
according to several high-placed sources.
The announcement could come as early as next week.
"If I had to make a bet, I'd say it's true," a USGA source said.
"If it is in fact true, there's clearly a problem taking the 2012
