Article: Small start for grand things'; City seeks proposals; for Park East parcel

In an effort to spur development in Milwaukee's Park East area, city officials said Tuesday they will seek proposals for a city- owned parcel just north of downtown.

The Department of City Development is soliciting proposals for the purchase and development of an 11,540-square-foot piece of land at the intersection of E. Pleasant, N. Jefferson and N. Water streets.

"We're going to jump-start progress on the Park East with our own parcel," Mayor Tom Barrett says in a statement.
