Mistie Bass will always be one of the greatest high school
basketball players in Wisconsin state history.
Her record three USA Today Wisconsin player-of-the-year awards as
she led Janesville Parker to consecutive WIAA state titles in 2000
and 2001 speaks for itself.
But Mistie Bass never will be an All-American at Duke University.
There's a good chance Mistie Williams will be but, alas, Mistie Bass
is no more.
Bass became Williams on Aug. 7, 2004, when she married U.S. Air
Force traffic controller Kenneth Williams in the Duke Gardens. She is
just the second married woman to play for Duke in the 30-year history
of the program.
