Milwaukee had only 1.3 inches of snowfall in December

A year that saw floods and tornadoes strike Wisconsin with such force that people in 44 counties qualified for federal disaster aid ended at midnight Friday in Milwaukee with one of the least snowy Decembers in the last 25 years.

Despite single-digit temperatures during much of the month, the city recorded only 1.3 inches of snow at Mitchell International Airport, according to Rusty Kapela, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Sullivan.
