Scottsdale, Ariz. Mark Attanasio was not prepared for the
reception he received upon walking into his first meeting as new
owner of the Milwaukee Brewers.
After the sale of the Brewers was unanimously approved Thursday at
the major-league owners' quarterly meetings at the Four Seasons
resort, Attanasio received a standing ovation from his new peers.
"I didn't expect that," Attanasio said. "I can say that was a
first for me. What are you supposed to do when you get a standing
ovation?"
The sale of the Brewers from an ownership group led by
Commissioner Bud Selig's family to Attanasio was the first item on
the agenda when the meeting began at 9:30 a.m. Milwaukee time.
