Article: Study sheds light on jail population; Some still seek more analysis

As Racine County moves closer to a multimillion-dollar jail expansion project, some supervisors and community residents are still looking for more information before making a final decision on the issue.

A jail population data review, released last week, shows, among other things, that most of the people who spent time in the crowded Racine County Jail in 2004 were there for misdemeanor crimes, and that only one in five was serving time for a more serious felony case.
