If you know a man by his enemies, what are we to think about the
title character in Korean director Park Chanwook's "Oldboy"?
Anyone abducted and imprisoned for 15 years without being told why
and without human contact must have done something heinous.
In fact, the opposite is true. He is an ordinary, if undeniably
unlikable, fellow, a loud drunk and a bit of a bully. But his "crime"
was the sort of casual and careless everyday mistake that any one of
us could make, which makes its dramatic repercussions even more
horrifying.
