Article: CAPITOL WEEK; Gas tax increase actually not as big as some others

It may be little comfort to the droves of drivers in Waukesha, Racine, Ozaukee and Washington counties, but the state gas tax, despite its recent bad press, has not increased as much over the years as some other taxes.

That is the analysis of the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance, which recently took a hard look at the taxes most people in Wisconsin pay the individual income tax, sales tax and gas tax and compared their rates of increase since 1985.
