San Antonio The San Antonio Spurs positioned themselves squarely
in the driver's seat in the National Basketball Association Finals by
defeating the Detroit Pistons, 97-76, Sunday night at the SBC Center.
The victory gave the Spurs a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series,
with Game 3 to be played Tuesday at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
In the Finals, a team has taken a 2-0 advantage 26 times, and only
two of those 26 teams leading have gone on to lose the series.
"They're going to be very inspired (in Detroit) and will play
tougher," said San Antonio's Manu Ginobili. "But we've been playing
very well and are very confident."
