While it has its preachy, telethony overtones, "Christopher
Reeve: A Celebration of Hope" proves a classy as well as moving
tribute -- a celebration more of hope, fortunately, than of Reeve.
Host Robin Williams says at the outset that the purpose of
the benefit, taped in Los Angeles, is "to help my friend and 250,000
other people get back on their feet again." Reeve suffered a
paralyzing spinal injury in a fall from a horse three years ago, but
many others have been rendered similarly immobile who are not nearly
so well known and who never played Superman in the movies.
The two-hour ABC special, at 9 tomorrow night on Channel 7,
features a truly impressive lineup of stars, ...
