Elm Grove Elm Grove is pursuing the possible purchase of Lake Michigan water from Milwaukee via Wauwatosa's water utility to serve the village's downtown properties.

The mayors of Milwaukee and Wauwatosa said Wednesday that they were receptive to the idea, although the cities are in the early stages of discussion with Elm Grove.

Unlike communities in western Waukesha County, such as the City of Waukesha, which face major barriers to buying Lake Michigan water because they lie west of the subcontinental divide, Elm Grove's entire 4 square miles lie in the Lake Michigan basin.
