Article: Racine, Kenosha churches plan benefit concert for hurricane evacuees; Organizers want to lend a hand to people starting new lives in Wisconsin

Racine As roughly 150 families from the Gulf Coast make Racine or Kenosha counties their new home after fleeing from the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, area churches and ministries are working together to assemble a benefit concert in hopes of lending a hand.

Organizers say the benefit concert that Abundant Life Christian Center Ministries in Racine is planning is the first collective disaster response on behalf of faith-based organizations in the Racine and Kenosha area.

"We believe that it is our responsibility to provide a helping hand to those in desperate need," the Rev. Elliott K. Cohen, the event's organizer, said Wednesday.
