Washington is a city of tourists who take tours, and the buses
that take them around are a common sight. Yesterday, a tour bus
traveling on Pennsylvania Avenue drew more than usual attention from
pedestrians who chuckled at the bus sign: "Playboy's History of the
Sexual Revolution Tour."
Inside the bus, 12 men and 24 women who had paid $10 apiece
for the two-hour tour heard Playboy magazine senior staff writer
James R. Petersen speak of Washington as other than a place of
monuments, memorials and presidents. Washington, he told his rapt
audience, was the historic headquarters for the repression of sexual
freedom in the country.
