There will be no shortage of fly-tiers at the Fly Fishing Show
at the University of Maryland today. Practically everyone who waves
the long rod over water has at some time or other tried concocting a
fish-attractor from feathers, thread and various bits of fluff. But
none can claim the success of Bob Clouser, who will teach and
demonstrate his techniques.
Clouser's Deep Minnow in just over a decade has become the fly
of choice for scores of species the world around. Clouser, a
59-year-old Pennsylvanian who worked 27 years at Acme Markets around
Harrisburg before giving himself over to fishing full time, reckons
its either No. 1 or 2 on the list of the world's most popular flies, ...
