Gov. Zell Miller proposed today that the state provide the
parents of every Georgia newborn with a classical music recording in
order to boost the infant's intelligence later in life.
"I propose that the parents of every baby born in Georgia --
over 100,000 a year -- be given a cassette or CD of music to be
played often in the baby's presence," the Democratic governor said
in requesting a $105,000 allocation for the program.
