La Crosse I have good friends who have lived in Madison for
decades but who have never visited La Crosse, just a two-hour drive
to the north and west through scenic Coulee Country.
Perhaps because I travel the state so much I sometimes assume
everyone else has been everywhere, too, so it surprises me a bit when
I find that's not the case. No doubt many Milwaukeeans have never
been here, either, and so have never enjoyed the wonderful
Mississippi riverfront setting that separates La Crosse from
similarly sized Wisconsin cities.
Maybe this year, when La Crosse celebrates a big, fat birthday on
that very riverfront, would be the time to change that. I came to La
