Article: MARQUETTE 57 GEORGETOWN 51; Declaring their goods; Golden Eagles; show mettle

If the Marquette Golden Eagles were looking to make a statement, their Big East showdown with the 17th-ranked Georgetown Hoyas on Thursday night provided the perfect stage.

Playing in front of their first true national TV audience since late November, they took full advantage, snapping a mini two-game losing skid and beefing up their NCAA tournament rsum all in one fell swoop by winning, 57-51, in front of a Bradley Center crowd of 15,243 that braved slick roads and falling temperatures.

MU outscored Georgetown, 9-2, over the decisive final 3 minutes 52 seconds to record its first victory over a ranked opponent since beating No. 2 Connecticut on Jan. 3. Next up is ninth-ranked
