Anaheim, Calif. Still smarting after a disputed loss to Team USA
two days earlier, Japan offered no help Tuesday to the Americans.
Japan jumped back in contention in the second round of the World
Baseball Classic with a 6-1 victory over Mexico, an outcome that left
Team USA once again needing help to advance.
Team USA received help in the first round when Mexico whipped
Canada, 9-1, a score that eliminated the Canadians via tie-breaker
when those three teams finished with 2-1 records. The possibility of
another three-way tie exists in the second round, should Japan (1-1
in the second round) beat Korea (2-0) tonight and Team USA (1-1)
defeat Mexico (0-2) on Thursday.
