Article: BOB RIEPENHOFF; Deer hunting proposals caught in crosshairs

Controversy over proposed changes to Wisconsin's deer hunting regulations surfaced at the Spring Conservation Hearings, held in every county across the state on Monday.

Resolutions on a bill by Rep. Scott Gunderson (R-Waterford), which is pending before the Assembly's Natural Resources Committee, were introduced in several counties. Among other things, the bill would eliminate October Zone T antlerless-only hunts and Earn-A-Buck, under which hunters are required to shoot an antlerless deer before they can shoot a buck.

In addition, resolutions recommending that deer hunting rules be set by wildlife professionals and not politicians were also introduced in several counties.
