Controversy over proposed changes to Wisconsin's deer hunting
regulations surfaced at the Spring Conservation Hearings, held in
every county across the state on Monday.
Resolutions on a bill by Rep. Scott Gunderson (R-Waterford), which
is pending before the Assembly's Natural Resources Committee, were
introduced in several counties. Among other things, the bill would
eliminate October Zone T antlerless-only hunts and Earn-A-Buck, under
which hunters are required to shoot an antlerless deer before they
can shoot a buck.
In addition, resolutions recommending that deer hunting rules be
set by wildlife professionals and not politicians were also
introduced in several counties.
